Tips and Tricks
"F" Keys - What do they do?
From the TV screen:

F1 = Turns the monitor ON or OFF
F2 = Mutes the audio
F3 = Shows PID info, signal info, satellite name, channel info
F4 = TV/Radio
Scratched screen?
If you just bought a new meter you may notice that the screen looks scratched or bubbled.  This is actually the protective film that we use to protect the screen during the manufacturing process.  You can peel off this protective cover to reveal the glass like surface below.  The surface of the screen is actually very scratch resistant.

First time charging the battery
You should charge the battery a minimum of 5 hours the first time.

After you use your meter it will require charging from time to time.  After the meter charges 20 to 30 minutes the indicator may show green but you should always charge the battery for 3 hours or more to achieve a deep charge.
Temporary Registration Code Tag
The "Register Code" is on a temporary tag on the back side of your meter.  You should immediately write this code down and keep it in a safe place.  You will need this number to re-activate your meter if you use the "Factory Reset".  See it here.
Upgrading to a new software or new satellite list?
Make sure your always power the meter using the provided AC power supply.  DO NOT unplug, disconnect or power down the meter until the loading of the software is complete.  Once it loads, the meter will re-boot and once again show the menu.  Once the menu appears, the meter is ready to use.
Version upgrades take 3 to 6 minutes or more.  List downloads usually take slightly less time.
Use any satellite name?
If you find you need to align to a satellite that's not in your meter, you can use any satellite name in the meter and edit the frequency, symbol rate and polarity of any transponder to match what you want.  The meter will work perfectly to find the information you've entered on the correct satellite.
Can't see the screen in bright sunlight?
All of our meter cases have a built in sun shade.  Use the Velcro strips attached to the cover and the side of the case to position the cover to block the sun light making it easier to see your meter on bright days.
Removable "F" connector
We use a removable "F" connector on our meters because daily use can wear down the thread on your connector.  This way you can replace the "F" connector when needed.  The "F" connector should be only snug and not over tightened to avoid damage to the meter.
Blank Screen?
If your meter has a blank screen press the "F1" key located just below the power light.  F1 turns the display on and off.
Need to MUTE the audio?
Pressing F2 will mute and un-mute the audio of any program playing on your meter.
Using Circular Polarization in your meter
Need to use your meter on circular?  The meter really only knows 13 and 18 volt switching.  Both Linear and Circular use voltage switching.  So, here's what you need to know.

13 volts will switch Linear Vertical or Circular Right Hand
18 volts will switch Linear Horizontal or Circular Left Hand

If you want to get RH polarity set your meter to Vertical.
If you want to get LH polarity set your meter to Horizontal.
How to edit your satellite/transponder list
The list is edited on the PC, NOT while it is in the meter.

1.  First download the list from the meter to the PC using MeterTool Read Parameters naming the file anything you like but using the ".bin" extension.  example [satinfo.bin]
2.  Next, click the Edit Parameters button and point to the file you just saved.  It will open for editing.

3.  After you finish editing click the Write Parameters button and once again point to the file you edited and saved.  Load it back to the meter and the meter will have the new information that you created.

Step by Step Instructions

Remember: when using a list, DO NOT Factory reset your meter or you will loose the list.
How to fix your meter when it won't boot
If your meter was unplugged or lost power while loading and won't boot, here's how to fix it.
  • Download and install MeterTool to your PC.
  • Connect your meter to your PC and leave the meter TURNED OFF.
  • Start MeterTool.
  • It will say "Fail to connect com1", click on "OK"
  • Click "load software" button
  • Choose the correct Operating Software file and click "Open"
  • When you see the "Transfer Progress" window, turn on the meter.
  • Keep the meter powered and do not move the meter until it finishes loading and has rebooted.
This method forces the meter to accept the program and will flush out any bad or incomplete data that was caused by loss of power during upgrading.  Your meter is now back to normal operation.
